Christine’s roots are from Goulais Bay First Nation, and she has a close connection to Fort William First Nation through her family. She is a proud mother of two beautiful children and her Anishnaabe name is “The one who completes the circle, the one who brings the circle together. The one who makes the circle whole”.

Christine comes to us from the Ontario Native Women’s Association starting in 2015 when she became the first Community Development Manager. Christine worked closely with the Community Development Director to develop and expand programs across the province for Indigenous women, their families, their agencies, and their communities.

Christine is a skilled Community Development professional possessing over 23 years of experience developing programs with and delivering services for Indigenous peoples and organizations throughout the province of Ontario. She has worked for a number of provincial Indigenous organizations over the course of her career including: the Ontario Metis & Aboriginal Association, Nishnawbe Aski Nation, and the Ontario Native Women’s Association as well as 2 years’ prior experience at Fort William First Nation. She has considerable experience in strategic planning, protocol development, proposal writing, policies and procedures development, statistics and data management, developing reporting infrastructures, and facilitating community engagements. An experienced and nationally certified facilitator, trainer and public speaker that has presented at national, regional, and local conferences.

Christine has a wealth of experience working with First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and urban-Indigenous communities and has a strong program development and management background that has been focused on building programs grounded in culture to address Indigenous specific issues including MMIWG2S, family violence prevention, social services, mental health, crisis response management, sexual violence prevention, anti-human trafficking, child welfare and community development.

She is a dedicated community volunteer including 10 years of service as President of the Board of Mahmowenchike Family Development Centre, as an Executive Committee Member of the Thunder Bay Youth Suicide Prevention Task Force, as well as a committee member of Confederation College’s Aboriginal Community Advocacy Program Advisory Committee.

Christine is a graduate of the Native Family Worker Program at Confederation College, MMBA from York University, Schulich School of Business and is currently working on completing her BA in Community Economic and Social Development at Algoma University.

As shown throughout her career she is passionate about and dedicated to ending all forms of violence, particularly violence against Indigenous women and children, through developing programs and services designed by and for Indigenous women.
