JOB DESCRIPTION
The Economic Business Officer is a contract full-time position that reports to the CEO. They will work collaboratively within a team environment and perform a key role in researching, planning, and executing business initiatives that support the project’s goals and contribute to long-term sustainability for our organization and its member communities.

General responsibilities;

  • Continuously research and identify new commercial opportunities that align with community needs and organizational goals to drive sustainable economic growth.
  • Develop and refine comprehensive business plans that support new economic initiatives and outline strategies for achieving long-term sustainability.
  • Facilitate training programs designed to enhance the skills and capabilities of community members, preparing them for participation in economic initiatives.
  • Conduct financial analysis and feasibility studies to evaluate the viability of proposed initiatives and ensure effective resource allocation.

Qualifications

  • A post-secondary education in Business Administration, Economic Development or related field with minimum 3 years experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of the economic, social, and political environment of Northwestern Ontario
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; the ability to communicate verbally in the Indigenous languages spoken in Northwestern Ontario is considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Experience in organizing and delivering training programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Valid Class ā€œGā€ license

Competitive salary is to be determined based on education and relevant work experience. Benefits, vacation, and other compensations to be negotiated.
