Position Title: Employment and Training Program Coordinator (Permanent Position)

Position Description:
Under the general direction of the Fort William First Nation’s (FWFN) Social/Employment Manager, the Employment and Training Program Coordinator plans, organizes, directs and controls the delivery of employment and training programs.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Identifies training and employment needs of Fort William First Nation members.
  • Collects labor market information and provides advice on how the information can be utilized and accessed.
  • Provides guidance and support with occupational research.
  • Supports action plan development to include a realistic employment goals and steps to achieve it.
  • Information sharing and implementation of job strategies, resume writing and interview skills.
  • Assists in the assessment of identifying training opportunities.
  • Provides awareness & referrals to training and employment opportunities.
  • Provides ongoing support to clients with resume writing, job referrals, E.I. applications, monitoring of clientele and follow-ups.
  • Assists in developing, analyzing and recommending projects.
  • Implements policies, procedures and directives.
  • Seeks other training initiatives and funding.
  • Performs other duties as may be directed by the Economic Development Director or Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary education and/or several years’ work experience in employment and training.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and use of personal vehicle.
  • This position is subject to a criminal records check.

Salary: To be negotiated.
