Fort William First Nation’s Environmental Team (Resource Management Response Unit), which includes an archaeological component, made a significant discovery this week at the Central Avenue Ball Diamonds on Harbour Expressway. Faith Johnstone, Lead Monitor and Field Technician, along with the Northwest Heritage Team, located a complete arrowhead — the first found by our team in four years. This powerful discovery in the heart of the city highlights the importance of our Nation’s work to recover lost cultural heritage and exercise our Treaty Rights. The artifact will now be analyzed, dated, and returned to the community for safekeeping. We are proud of our young Band Members for their continued dedication to protecting and preserving what matters most to us.
