Fort William First Nation proudly recognizes and congratulates Elder Sheila De Corte on receiving the 2025 Canadian River Heritage Award.

Presented through a partnership between the Canadian Canoe Museum and the Canadian Heritage Rivers System, the award honours individuals dedicated to preserving and celebrating Canada’s rivers for future generations.

Elder Sheila’s connection to water is deeply rooted in her cultural journey, healing and commitment to honouring her ancestors. Her work continues to raise awareness of the sacredness of water and the importance of protecting the rivers and waters we share.
