Please be advised that the FWFN Economic Development / Environmental Unit is aware of the recent effluent spill in the Kaministiquia River.

Chief has directed our team to make this a priority matter. As part of our response, we have begun water sampling along the river to ensure due diligence and to confirm the extent of any impacts.

This incident reportedly occurred six (6) days ago and has been covered in the news. We understand that the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) is aware and has initiated its own investigation.

In addition, our Resource Management Response Unit (RMRU) will continue conducting an internal investigation throughout today and tomorrow to gather further information and provide an update to the community.
