Snow Plow Driver

Type: Hourly

POSITION TITLE: Snow Plow Driver- DZ/AZ Licensed Operator (s) One (1) On-Call Position

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION: The On-Call Operator is needed to quickly fill short-term leaves of absences for the Snow Plow Driver.

The Operator is responsible for maintaining contracted assets (roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, etc.) through operation/use of heavy equipment, particularly during seasonal needs (i.e. snow plow operations), and any other needs per the contract requirements.

This position requires a highly developed sense of safety awareness and perceptive ability. You must have the ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks and make adjustment to avoid loss, injury or accident. You must be able to communicate safety instructions, be able to think clearly and focus on your safety in immediate surroundings while using tools and equipment. Operators are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate to your job.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintaining contracted assets (roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, etc.
  • Operate heavy equipment, particularly during seasonal needs
  • Recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks and make adjustment to avoid loss, injury or accident
  • Communicate with coworker’s safety instructions
  • Must wear Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the job
  • Must be able to think clearly and focus on your in immediate surroundings while using tools and equipment and while driving or operating equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years related work experience in related construction, road maintenance, commercial/industrial repair and operating equipment through use of DZ license
  • Valid Ontario Class DZ driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • AZ license is an asset
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Effective communication skills
